GGSE C&G Sponsored Project Online Opportunity Form
Thank you for using the GGSE sponsored project proposal notification form.
The early notification of your plans to submit a sponsored project funding proposal supports the GGSE C&G Office efforts to provide efficient, effective service.
Completion of this form is required to initiate the C&G proposal support process.
For federal and like grant programs that have known regular submission due dates, a SPOOF should be submitted at least 45 days prior to the published due date.
For other contract and grant opportunities, it is most helpful to submit a SPOOF as soon as you become aware of a possible opportunity. This is particularly true for evaluation related proposals (via private/foundation or public agencies) and for instances when you are asked by colleagues to be a sub-recipient/sub-award on a grant submitted by another institution (such proposals require early processing by the UCSB Office of Research).
For the UCSB Office of Research to give your proposal the careful attention that it deserves, the GGSE C&G Office must submit a complete version of the proposal to the central campus Office of Research a minimum of seven (7) business days prior to the deadline. In addition, the GGSE C&G staff need a minimum of three (3) working days to prepare documents for UCSB OR review.
What does this mean?
As you prepare any contract or grant proposal, as a general rule of thumb, you should aim to have your proposal documents ready for review
two week prior to the sponsor agency's submission date.
A complete proposal includes all parts needed for submission, which includes a 100% finished budget and justification. All sections of the technical or scientific portions of the proposal must be completed in at least in draft form (scope of work, research plan, references, targeted study information).
